Magic within Meridian Divide is prevalent and well known. Since what seems the start of humanoid beings evolving into the sentiance we know today, humanity and other supernatural races have had an innate ability to be one with both penumbra and umbral mana. Bending and manipulating the elements is a deep part of every culture. Science in history documents well how mana was harnessed to further growth and technology to help humanity evolve and to ever expand on day to day comforts and basic rights to power, shelter, food and running water. Elemental and Void magic have been used in many wars over the centuries and in some cases have evolved it into sports.
But there is an underground form of magic that has existed since around the birth of Keme and Ayunli. Within the world of Meridian Divide earth has harbored a secret society of supernatural trackers and hunters. First documentation of this occurred around the copper age where tablets had been found that seemed to depict ritualist recipes and instructions in runic characters. Many cultures over the world have religious or spiritual lore about ritualist or summoning ‘magics’ and there is a reason for this. In modern times such tales are seen as nothing but fable, as in mainstream society on the surface such things do not exist. Most people understand the penumbra and umbra and how that magic exists as an extension of themselves in the natural environment. It’s simply incomprehensible to subscribe to an idea that magic can exist simply from mixing a few herbs.
But everyday there are underground operations happening. Some are with a broad cause, while others wander down that dangerous rabbit hole to benefit themselves. But make no mistake there is a price. Not only does dabbling with these forbidden crafts threaten your sanity, but they may also bring on unintended consequences and threats from other planes that may or may not extend beyond you, affecting your friends and loved ones as well.
In order to gain access to this ancient craft, you need to hook yourself up with a basic supply list. As far as how you came across your supplies from an in character stand point, it’s up to you to decide if your character is just starting to get involved, or if they perhaps had the supplies all along. Regardless for fairness everyone must spend Participation Points to get these items.
